DJ Kid Corona - Morning Show Host
Below, I have put together my personal stories, experiences and opinions about the celebs I've interviewed on air, and in some cases ended up friends with. Enjoy!
ENRIQUE IGLESIAS
Having Enrique Iglesias come to my show was such a great experience. Before coming on to the show, Enrique Iglesias would regularly check in via cell phone from where ever he was in the world. One day, after numerous calls I finally called him out and said "Hey man, no more phone calls, next time we hear from you its live in studio" and his response was "sure, no problem". Well within a few weeks, Enrique Iglesias kept his promise and came by the morning show. All I can say about this guy is that he is a man of his word. Enrique Iglesias is one of the coolest and most down to earth stars I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. When the mics were off, Enrique and I would engage in personal conversations that just blew me away. Enrique Iglesias is no doubt a class A celebrity.
PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON
During the Presidential campaign for Hillary Clinton, Bill came on the show to talk about his support for the former First Lady. It was such an incredible experience for me having the former President of the U.S. on my show. It's almost surreal because during his first term, I was still in high school. Never in a million years did I ever think that years later President Bill Clinton would be on my show. He was so cool to talk to and a very friendly and funny person. After we were done with the interview, he went on to say how he was now a fan of Latino 96.3 and Kid Corona...I have the audio to prove it, it will be up soon...lol
GEORGE LOPEZ
I love George! It was actually my first day on the air at Latino 96.3 and my first Los Angeles interview when He came on the show on a last minute call . I was caught by surprise that I didn't even know what direction to go in, it was great. George of course being the pro he is, was totally cool and of course funny as heck. A few months later, George was in Palm Springs at a night club in the VIP section. He recognized one of my friends and let them in to hang out. Mad love to you George!!
JUANES
Most people confuse Juanes with a group. Make a note, Juanes is one artist....lol His name Juanes was shortened from Juan Estevan. I have been a fan of Juanes for quite some time. When he came to the studio I was really surprised. He was very respectful and very friendly towards everyone who came to talk to him. After the interview was over, Juanes personally invited me to his 3 day concert in Los Angeles. I received the VIP treatment and got to sit up close to the stage area. If you ever have a chance to see Juanes live in concert, I highly recommend it. Juanes puts on a great show.
CARLOS MENCIA
Have you ever seen his show "The Mind of Mencia" on Comedy Central? Well, you're missing out. Carlos Mencia is certainly a funny man in comedy. When he came by the morning show to hang out, I thought i was gonna pee my pants. Carlos had a joke for everything. I've known Carlos Mencia for a long time. Actually, I met him back in Tucson, AZ when i first got on the air as a DJ. I was working for a radio station hosting the night show and working part time as a mobile Disc Jockey. Carlos came to town as part of a comedy tour and He invited me to his show. I will never forget on the day of his show when he drove by in a limo shouting out to the crowd "Carlos Mencia Sucks!"....I thought to myself, "hey, somebody get that guy out of here now!" Of course moments later I knew who the shouter was...lol
TOMMY LEE
Crazy guy but totally cool. I was a DJ in Palm Springs and host of the #1 rated afternoon show when Tommy Lee stopped in. I will never forget when he said to me "Dude, your show is awesome!" apparently he'd been listening to my show while he was on the road. After that I realized I had turned Tommy Lee into a fan...that was definitely a mind boggling experience for me..
BEYONCE
When I met Beyonce, she was still part of Destiny's Child. In fact, I was a DJ on the air in Palm Springs and on my way to hosting the night show as an on air DJ at Jamm'n 102-5 in Sacramento. Beyonce was such a sweetheart and so were the rest of the Destiny's Child girls. I decided to bust out with my microphone and digital recorder and do a quick interview before letting them go onstage. Let me tell you, Beyonce went above and beyond. After I was done with the interview (and i have this recorded) Beyonce went on to say "Kid Corona is a cutie pie" and the rest of the girls agreed. I was like "What!!!" I couldn't believe I had gotten this on tape. Well, to finish things off, Beyonce and the girls gave me a hug and on they went to do their show. Darn, I should have gotten her number...lol
CRISTIAN DE LA FUENTE
Cristian is truly I guy I really respect. As you know, Cristian was part of the cast of Dancing with the Stars. During that time, Cristian would call in to the show and give us the low down. As time went by, Cristian eventually made his way into the studio. During one of his visits, He personally invited me to the Dancing with the Stars after party in Hollywood. Not only was he a great host, but he took care of us with drinks the whole night. All I could say to myself was "wow, this is what its like to be a DJ in Los angeles"....I had an amazing time. Thank you again Cristian.....you da man!
